Some ideas are just too good to let go of. There are concepts that, although very simple, can always be tweaked to give you a new and exciting approach. That’s the feeling we got when playing with the Paddle Battle game.

This game seems to be like a revamped version of Pong in which your objective is to defeat your opponent by hitting balls back and forth. Sounds familiar? Well, that’s because the basic premise is a very common one.

However, this title includes several additional features that turn that simple argument into a very enjoyable gaming experience. Your mission in this space adventure game is to confront a friend and destroy his ship.

To do this, you will be assisted by a series of balls and bizarre weapons of destruction. Additionally, you’ll count on several power-ups that give you certain temporary advantages over your opponent such as extra time and paddle enlargement.

Your ship is protected by a wall that you need to defend from all the incoming attacks by using your own paddle. Once your wall is destroyed, your ship will be defenseless, therefore vulnerable to any of your opponent’s projectiles.

You should know, however, that death by destruction isn’t the only way to win. Each battle is timed so if the time runs up before any of the ships is destroyed, then the player that has taken less damage is the winner.

Paddle Battle Game Key Features:

Each level has a number of asteroids that hinder the balls’ trajectories and that adds one more challenging element to each combat. Besides, you can choose the game mode: either a quick flight or a battle with up to seven rounds.

You should keep in mind that there’s no single-player mode, though. This is probably Paddle Battle’s biggest letdown since you’ll always need somebody else to play it. That is one of the reasons why this game is also very popular with party games.

The game’s graphics are very well-designed, especially the backgrounds, which immerse you into deep space and into unknown galaxies. The power-ups and weapons are designed in a more cartoon-like style, perhaps to underline the comic nature of the game.

Paddle Battle’s gameplay is very smooth but there’s certain unresponsiveness when sliding the paddles in one direction or the other. The movements feel a little laggy and that impact the development of the battle but the developers seem to be working on an update to fix this.
