The game takes the same basic idea of having an overworld as we see in the other 2d games and translates them creatively into a 3d format the castle serves as a general hub world where Mario can jump from world to world or course to course.

The gameplay is pretty seamless instead of levels we get a single world with options and tasks for Mario to complete to get a gold star and it really just helps the overall idea and theme of this game come across and it could have been a linear game but it works so much better as just an open game where you feel like the possibilities are endless.

This game has 15 worlds with individual objectives on each world which really makes it a long adventure too. The variety in the world is actually fantastic there are a few levels in snow, and underwater and it really sets the standard as to what players deserve in an adventure game and the variety that players really need, and we’ve seen this in other 2d platformers but never before in a 3d.
